Camping Checklist

This is my camping and holiday checklist which has served me well.

You might like to print it out and add any things specific to yourself for future use.

  • Tent

    Inner tent (net and groundsheet), outer tent (flysheet), poles, pegs, guy lines. Possibly spare pegs, a repair kit and a mallet depending on the ground you will be pitching on.

  • Rucksack

    If it is not waterproof take a rucksack liner bag or bin bag.

  • Water bottles

    On average a person needs 2-2.5 litres of water a day, this varies on daily exertion.

  • Sleeping bag

    Suitable for the season.

  • Sleeping equipment

    Pillow, sleeping mat or airbed. I wrap a towel around my rucksack for a pillow but you can also get small and inflatable ones.

  • Waterproof jacket and trousers

  • Walking boots/shoes

  • Clothing

    Appropriate for the weather forecast. eg. socks, underwear, thermals or base layers, t-shirts, trousers/shorts/skirts/dresses, jumpers or sweatshirts, scarf, hat, gloves...

  • Lighter or fire starting tool

  • First aid kit

  • Stove and fuel

  • Cookset

    Pans, mug, cutlery.

  • Washing up liquid and cloth

  • Toiletries

    Soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, (Biodegradeable & Environment Friendly). Deodorant, small mirror....

  • Flannel, Towel.

    Consider microfibre for small size and quick drying.

  • Map and/or notes

  • Toilet roll

  • Food bags

    Or similar for waterproofing valuables.

  • Torch and batteries

  • Spare glasses/lenses

    Spare glasses and case, or contact lenses and necessary equipment.

  • Medications

    Medications, vitamins, minerals, and any other items for your personal health needs. Take more medication than you should need.

  • Rubbish bag

  • Bug spray/gel

    Bug spray/gel, Mosquito net if appropriate.

  • Sun screen

  • Folding stool or chair

  • Devices, camera and chargers

  • Also...

    And of course the usual things you leave home with which for me would be wallet, tobacco, mobile, keys, travel and health documents, nicotine patches for long journeys.
